Winter CSA, Week 1

Welcome to the 2010 Winter CSA! Brines Farm has been busy since May prepping and planting the infrastructure to bring you a premier Winter CSA share program. For your reference, here is a copy of the signup flier and also a copy of the introductory letter. Now without further ado, onto the details of the first week share.

Winter salad mix

Arugula

Baby Pac choi

Hakurei turnips. One of Shannon's favorites, whether raw or roasted or diced and lightly cooked in some olive oil these are the best turnips you'll ever taste. The white globe is one of the sweetest turnips around, and don't forget to eat the green greens.

Cabbage. The first couple weeks will be pre-loaded with these little guys since they are in the outside gardens.

Baby brussel sprouts. Didn't get that big this year so just a few for ya. Pluck them off them stem while they are fresh. I like to blanch or steam them just for a minute or so, roll them in some melted butter and walnut oil and salt and pepper to taste.
