Open (Hoop)House Success!!!

Thanks to the well over 100 people who ventured out to the Brines Farm Open (Hoop)House this past Sunday, November 19, 2006. It was very energizing to meet so many people interested in methods for growing and marketing fresh, local, year-round food. There were people from all over Michigan as well as parts of Ohio and Indiana. If any of you should ever have any questions or ideas regarding season-extending or year-round techniques please don't hesitate to share them with me. I'd be interested in hearing about the things that you try. All of the flyers including my story and list of resources will be uploaded to the Brines Farm website. There is also a web gallery of some photos from the day thanks to my friend Shaw. I will hold more open houses in the future and will of course be developing my hoophouse story in much greater detail here on this blog. Here's to making our network of small hoophouse farms raising healthy, fresh, year-round food for Michigan!

hey shannon,
wish i could've been there for the open house. looks like the farm is getting lots of good press/exposure. will you be getting your csa going in the summer?
winter's turned stormy here on the coast. i was gone much of august and september so i wasn't able to put a cloche up in time at the community garden. :( so no fresh local produce for me this winter.
