Another Holiday Gift Shopping Option

Frome a friend of mine...

ALTERNATIVE HOLIDAY FAIR

WHEN: Sunday, December 3 from 3:00-7:00 p.m.

WHERE: First Baptist Church, 512 E. Huron, Ann Arbor, MI

There will be a representative selling handicrafts and jewelry made by a women's collective in Ecuador. The collective, Las Colibries (The Hummingbirds), produces a variety of hand-made jewelry and home decor. They use products naturally found in the forest, such as coconut and tagua nut (known as "vegetable ivory"), and they also recycle paper. Their activities are a form of sustainable development that does not damage the rain forests or local surroundings.

Products for sale include:
-handmade recyled paper, envelopes, bookmarks, and gift boxes
-earrings, necklaces, and bracelets
-candle holders
-barrettes
-keychains
-and more!

Other vendors (such as Ten Thousand Villages, Heifer International, and SERRV) will also be there selling items that benefit impoverished people from around the world. The Alternative Holiday Fair is a great shopping substitute for those looking to support important causes with their holiday shopping dollars.
