HomeGrown Festival reigns supreme
The first-ever, first annual, HomeGrown Festival was also a smashing success. Certainly the rains were supreme but the festival also reigns supreme as the area's marquee celebration of simply making HomeGrown a central thought for every area home. Thanks to all organizers, supporters, donors, volunteers, participants, and all of you for making this a reality!
I can tell you the plans are already underway to make the 2nd annual HomeGrown Festival (very tentatively September 19th, 2009) even better. Also, we will collaborating with all interested stakeholders at trying to convene a Local Food Summit during the winter, at which among other things we will discuss visions for our area as well coordination and declaration of September 2009 as local food month. So many things brewing in our area. Stay tuned!
Anyway, the Ann Arbor News did cover the HomeGrown Festival: Rain can't dampen food festival - Visitors enjoy tastings and more.

The Saints provided some puddle-stomping blues rock to dance to
Yours truly and Jason Frenzel press apples into cider with the help of Elissa Trumbull of Agrarian Adventure

It was great working with you, Shannon (and Jason and everyone!) on this event! I'm sorry that I couldn't do more!!
